Nigerian Port Authority Has An Office, Guest House in London – Peter Obi

0

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has made a shocking revelation that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has an office in London.

The former Anambra State governor said NPA is the only port in the world that has an office outside its territory of operation. He made the revelation during The People’s Town Hall on Channels TV on Sunday, an interactive session with members of the public that he had in the company of his vice presidential candidate Datti Ahmed.

Obi promised to dismantle the current Nigerian port system if elected president: “Ports Authority is what I’ve followed. Are you aware that the Nigerian Ports Authority is the only Port Authority in the world that has an office outside its country of operation?

“They have an office in London, they even have a guest house in London. Can you believe it? For running a Port in Nigeria?!

“We are going to dismantle the confusion in Ports Administration and get this country to work,” he said.

Nigeria has been running a Lagos-based centralized port system for years, keeping other ports scattered across the country dormant – a situation experts say contributes to port congestion and high cost of clearing.

In 2020, the Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, said Nigeria runs the most expensive port in the West African sub-region, a situation she attributed to duplicity of functions by operators in the ports.

Obi, who is seen as a maverick in the Nigerian political system, said he would copy other countries that made massive progress running their ports. He cited China, which moved from its lackluster port operation to occupy the most prominent positions today.

He noted that 20 years ago the biggest port in terms of operations was Singapore, which currently holds the 4th or 5th position because it has been replaced by three ports in China.

“It’s not rocket science, the port is not difficult, Nigeria has so much port potential from Ibom to Port Harcourt terminal started by Shagari and still not fully operational,

“I will change it by bringing the private sector to build ports and manage it in collaboration with the government,” Obi said.

The two-term former governor has recorded massive organic support buoyed by Nigerian youths since he declared his intention to run for the office of the president. However, the implementation of his promise to dismantle the Nigerian port system depends solely on him winning the presidential election on February 25.

Never Share Implementation Data on ChatGPT

Modern technology is truly solving man-made problems by shifting employment to other sectors. The research and discovery system enables humans to investigate the possibility of creating artificial life to support the human race. That’s the level of research required to build the Earth’s land. During the process of discovering and collecting samples from various human ideas and theories in order to create unimaginable technology, humans draft out various types of laws and theories. This is the level of problem-solving research and kudos to all who are working to introduce all kinds of solutions to the human race.

Humans create a second life to assist global labor in the early stages of process research, which enables the discovery and implementation of the school of learning known as machine learning. Machine learning (ML), a central concept in AI research since its inception, is the study of computer algorithms that improve themselves automatically through experience.

This article will investigate whether the chatbot’s nature is truly safe to rely on. In this section, I will discuss the significance of data and information storage. And the question is, what is Chatgpt’s mission, and is it safe for users?

What is ChatGPT?
OpenAI launched ChatGPT, a chatbot, in November 2022. It is based on OpenAI’s GPT-3 family of large language models and is tuned using supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

ChatGPT is a large language model that is trained on a massive amount of online data to generate responses. It is created by the same company that created DALL-E, which generates a seemingly infinite number of images in response to user prompts. It’s also the latest version of the text generator GPT-3. After signing up for ChatGPT, users can ask the AI system a variety of questions, such as “Who was the president of the United States in 1955?” or summarize difficult concepts for a second grader. It’ll even answer open-ended questions like “What is the meaning of life?” or “What should I wear today if it’s 40 degrees?” It is dependent on the activities you intend to engage in. “Wear a light jacket or sweater, long pants, and closed-toe shoes if you intend to be outside,” ChatGPT advised. “If you intend to stay indoors, wear a t-shirt and jeans or other comfortable clothing.”

How people are using it

In just five days, this AI gained enormous popularity and millions of visitors. People use chatGPT to solve technical, related, and unrelated technological problems by asking the AI to draft an answer. ChatGPT is trained to engage in conversations using a method known as Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), which combines machine learning and human intervention (RLHF). To use ChatGPT, developers must first sign up for an OpenAI API key, which grants them access to the model and allows them to use it in their own applications. This is a cousin to Siri but in a more universal technical form. However, let us delve deeper into what data and information are about, particularly the nature of user data and information protection. The assimilation policy is not worth discussing here, but the system of indirect rule and indirect assimilation of people’s data and information appears/could be the nature of chatGPT.

What is Data?

Data is a collection of discrete values that convey information, describing the quantity, quality, fact, statistics, other basic units of meaning, or simply sequences of symbols that can be further interpreted in the pursuit of knowledge. A datum is a single value within a set of data. When “data” is used more broadly as a synonym for “information,” chatGpt is very nice, but there’s a skeleton in the closet. Please flip the definition and distinction between “information” and “data.” Reverse the root of the HTML basic internet protocol towards the bandwidth and open the git site, and you will find something resembling an earth structure displaying data and information of incoming global users’ data channeling their work, which I hope is secure.

Using chatGPT AI to get an answer, step, or solution to a specific building or problem during implementation is now suspect. The act of obtaining secret or confidential information is known as espionage, spying, or intelligence gathering (intelligence). A person who commits espionage is Those words indicate that chatGPT is secretly assimilating user ideas while solving a problem.

Summary

The relationship between data collection and dissemination is defined as “information privacy.” It’s also referred to as “data privacy” or “data protection.” Never reveal implementation information or data to chatGPT because it is a human creation with the ability to control global sectors through data.

New Critical Perspectives on Reproblematizing Location of Osun State Secretariat

0
political structure of Osun government for administrative purposes

Osogbo is in the Central Senatorial District, while Ede is in the West Senatorial District, according to electoral classification. While Osogbo is the state capital, Ede is one of the West’s major cities. In terms of population, Osogbo outnumbers Ede. According to recent population estimates, Osogbo has a population of 750,000 people, while Ede has a population of 159,866 people. One could travel by road from Ede to Osogbo in a short amount of time. Over the years, there have been inter-city marriages and business partnerships between residents of the two cities. Given the proximity of Ede to Osogbo, it goes without saying that Ede would typically benefit from infrastructure development as the state capital continues to grow as a result of residents’ and non-residents’ interest in relocating there.

For instance, Chief Bisi Akande, a former governor, laid the foundation for the construction of a new secretariat valued at N2 billion on March 24, 2000, after years of government employees working in various locations throughout the state capital due to the lack of a single structure for providing public services.

“On my assumption of office as the Executive Governor of Osun State, I observed that all the agencies of government were scattered all over the State Capital. Many of the agencies operate from rented apartments while most of them are squeezed together at “Maroko”. “Maroko” is the nickname for the Osogbo Local Government’s lock-up stores and motor parks taken over by the pioneer Government and converted into Government offices. For a poor State, the situation has been too costly and it encourages staff loafing around, laziness and ghost workers. The situation undoubtedly inhibits effective administration and does not make for proper coordination of activities of Government.

To facilitate smooth administration and proper coordination of governmental activities, it is, therefore, the determination of this Administration to have in place a befitting Secretariat Complex, for future Administrations in the State. I wish to reiterate that the construction of the new Secretariat Complex, the foundation of which is now being performed by Mr. President, is one of the priorities of my Administration in this fiscal year.”

Historicisation of the conflict

Those were Chief Bisi Akande’s words when former President Olusegun Obasanjo laid the foundation stone for the new government secretariat. Members of an Ede socio-cultural association warned the state government in 2001, a year after the foundation-laying ceremony, that if the Osun State government did not resolve the land dispute between it (Ede) and Osogbo, the state capital, there would be another Ife-Modakeke-like conflict.

Despite the call and subsequent narratives, Chief Akande fulfilled his promise in 2003 by commissioning the secretariat, claiming that the new secretariat would create 5,000 jobs. In 2014, the old wound was revisited when president of the city association said “it had become necessary for Ede and Osogbo to stop incessant boundary clashes in the interest of peace and development. He also urged the governor (Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola) to look into the report of a boundary demarcation commission set up by former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, which identified the boundaries between Ede and its neighbours, including Ofatedo and Ido-Osun.

In 2016, the Ede community warned Governor Rauf Aregbesola to stop policies that could lead to a conflict with Osogbo. The state government was accused of establishing a new town within Edeland called Oranmiyan Town. The narratives culminated in physical actions in 2017, when indigenes of Abere, where the secretariat is located, protested the demolition of some buildings by the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation. According to a national newspaper report, the chairman of the Abere Community threatened to go to war if the people behind the move did not stop the plan to cede part of Abere to Osogbo.

Obas’ Press Release and Inherent Discourse Formations

From all indications, it is obvious that there are problems that the relevant parties neglected to address between 2001 and 2017, which are now being exploited by political actors and some individuals who oppose peace. Traditional leaders of the two communities released a press release to address the issue. Although the message is clear, I feel that the production and presentation are inappropriate for the status of two rulers. Is it not banal that despite the seriousness of the situation, a press release with a total word counts of 172, including the heading (Press Release) and the title, was issued?

Why did the traditional rulers issue a press release on regular paper? Why can’t the duo’s traditional logos be created and used together for the release? Given the gravity of the situation and Ife Modakeke’s previous experiences, why was a joint press conference not appropriate for the two rulers? Why is it so difficult for the government to hold a press conference instead of relying on a press release issued by the rulers?

The royal fathers stated that: “As royal fathers of Osogboland and Edeland, we affirm there is no conflict or controversy over the status, the location and naming of the state government Secretariat.” In another part of the release, the both said: “the State Government has not acted in anyway to deny any community of their rights and privileges. We blame political forces for attempting to politicise the issue to forment trouble and destabilize the state.”  Historically, the two rulers are not expected to make statements that could spark a crisis. However, the statements are built on a political framework. The rulers want the public to believe that there is no conflict or controversy with the first statement. However, the second statement emphasizes the existence of an issue, which political forces have exploited for personal gain. In my opinion, the phrase “the state government has not acted in any way to deny any community of its rights and privileges” is better communicated by the state government than by them because the governor is in the best position to reveal judicial conclusions on annexing the location for capital territory development.

The title reads “Osun State Government Secretariat: Status Quo Remains-Osogbo, Ede Royal Fathers” Connecting “Status Quo” to the kicker (Osun State Government Secretariat), it is clear that the rulers want the public to believe that naming location of the secretariat remain Abeere Osogbo. Is the state government politically aligned with their resolution? If so, why were some of the “Abeere Osogbo” signages at the front of the secretariat recently removed? The state government should also send out messages indicating that some letterheads with Abeere but no Osogbo do not come from the government. I’m still hoping the letter heads are made up. As a result, the state government must clear citizens’ doubts.

The Best Way To Acquire Customers At Early Stages of Companies

0

Avoid the trap of paying to acquire customers at the early phase of your startup. It is a very bad idea because doing so introduces many fudge factors which will make it impossible to understand the product viability.

As I have noted, do not pursue massive customer growth unless you are able to RETAIN customers. Why? You can spend all the money on marketing, and if you are unable to retain customers, once you stop paying those customers, they go. There is always the next app there!

Focus on what matters: make customers become FANS and that means loving your products because you offer value. Sure, you can spend money on initial launch to kickstart a business (physics supports that); it is one way of breaking customer inertia. But sustained paid-driven growth strategy will fail.

Customer discovery and customer validation are critical phases in product development. There is a reason in that village that makes everyone want to buy palm wine from Mazi Nkwo. That market woman that sells food at the corner of the telephone mast in the market never takes food home because she finishes it. What is the secret? Empathy: seeing markets from the perspectives of your customers and creating products and services to fix their frictions.

In Oriendu Market in Ovim, I sold garri and yam for my grandmother. And in FUTO, I owned a magazine, FUTO Bubbles, and to this moment in our companies, I have this conclusion: if you cannot retain customers, you have no mission because customers are the best INVESTORS in business. So, I call you to stop chasing vanity metrics.

From Feb 6, I will be teaching new courses including “Navigating Growth phases” and “The NEP Framework – Discovering and Listening to Customers”. Come and co-learn with me at Tekedia Institute.

Comment: Ndubuisi Prof in the phone app and online engagement space its called ‘paid user acquisition’ the opposite of which is known as ‘organic user acquisition’.
Generally in a pitch, VCs HATE to hear about a paid user acquisition strategy, and the moment it rears its ugly head they switch off.

You have released another article about how different new developments defined various decades in Nigeria…

I would say ‘paid user acquisition’ as a strategy had its day from roughly 1995-2005 globally – roughly the first decade of internet.

Now it seems more dated than a dial up modem, and exposes an entrepreneur as out of touch.

My Response:  paying for something does not mean transferring money. In my construct, it goes beyond “paid user acquisition’ . When you have an ecommerce website and you sell a shoe for $25 when it was bought for $30, that is the same thing even though you did not “pay” the buyer. In other words, here, mindless discounts are included. The model is always: pick that $5 tab and hope next time the customer can pay even $35.

That paying can include contracts: move from Merchant A to B, and we will discount 30% of the first year. Those things can work when customers are not paying the full value and can take any average product. But check if they return when the full price is listed.

Comment 2: Cost of customer acquisition is on the rise globally
and will keep rising for the forseable future. Owned media should be the goal and customer retention strategies should be the ultimate skin in the game.

My Response: “Owned media should be the goal ” – I agree even though it takes time to develop it
