The Effects of Crime

The issue of Crime is a matter that concerns all of us because of its dire consequences.These crimes include but are not limited to rape, fraud, kidnapping, murder, money laundering, terrorism, cyber crimes, bribery and corruption, and others.

In Nigeria, we have seen how those who are meant to fight crime have become the crime suspects. This has turned the country into a joke. Hence, the call for action , and a sense of responsibility among citizens and leaders.

The issue of Crime is a matter that concerns all of us because of its dire consequences. In the crime index by country (2020 mid year) as reported by numbeo, Nigeria was ranked as the 17th country (with a crime index of 63.27 and a safety index of 36.73) out of 133 countries listed, thus becoming the first West African country on that list, and the third African country (after South Africa and Angola) .

Also, a 2014 report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Cybercrime costs the global economy $445 billion annually. We saw an increase in this figure to $600 billion in 2017.

As a result of these crimes – which usually come in different shades, the country has been coloured in red, as one of the most dangerous places to travel to. Recently, some companies in the United Arab Emirates omitted Nigerians from applying for their listed jobs, due to the activities of fraudsters who are not good ambassadors of the country overseas. We have seen some countries toughen their visa rules for Nigerians in the past, due to the bad behaviour of some of our citizens.

In 2012, Nigeria was estimated to have lost over $400 billion to corruption since independence. In 2018, the country ranked 144th in the 180 countries listed in Transparency International’s Corruption Index (with Somalia, at 180th, being the most corrupt, and Denmark the least) ~Wikipedia.

It is laughable to see some of these criminals receive praises and accolades from people. They are celebrated as social media idols, and revered by those they manipulate. In our communities, corrupt politicians rule, rolling out money as a red carpet to silence the voice of reason. During elections, lives are lost, as these same leaders in order to win, resort even to arms to achieve their goals.

He never knew he was pioneering an entire industry.

 He launched the site in his apartment and in 1997 the company went on IPO. That is the story of how Amazon was conceived and birthed by Jeff Bezos.

 But, there is one thing to take seriously as an entrepreneur and business person. That one thing is the fact that every product and innovation has a purpose. 

The purpose of Amazon is to make it possible for people to be able to buy anything online, from anywhere in the world.

 So, this is very critical as Prof. Nduibisi Ekekwe said that innovation +commercialisation= innovation. What does that mean? It means that for your innovation or product to be considered a solution, it must be useful in the market.

 That is why it is very important to know how to determine the market target in business modeling. Modeling the market target into your business model is a step towards commercialising your product or innovation.

 So, in this article I shall be guiding you on how to determine the market target. Here it goes; 

How to Determine Market Target in Business Modeling.

In order to determine the market target in your business modeling design, you must provide answers to some questions. 

These are questions that help you to uncover who the market target is. It is not everybody that is your market target but it is someone that is. Here are the questions to answer. 

  • Who Has The Problem

 You should know by now that every product in the market is a solution. A specific solution designed and packaged to solve a specific problem.

 That is the rationale behind every product and services. Think about the products you use today, your cream, food, your toiletries, car etc.

 They are specific products that help you to solve specific problems. So, it should be very clear what problem your product is solving.

 You have to provide an answer to the problem that your solution will solve. This is the first step to understand your market target. 

Then you have to know who has the problem that your product is solving. 

  • Who Has The Product

The product of a business is not for the business. The products of a business are for a set of people.

 Amazon e-commerce is not built so that Jeff Bezos will use it or the staff but it was built so that people and businesses can sell their goods there.

 Who has the product or the solution you are working on. Some good examples are as follows. Here are my products are who need them;

  •  How to sell Anything Online While Sleeping (Magnetic Copywriting). This product is For entrepreneurs and business owners.
  •   How Google and Facebook Hire Best Brains(To Drive Innovation and Marketing).For entrepreneurs and business owners.

These examples can be applied to your product. You will be able to know who has the product. Now, who has the product you are working on?

  •  Where Can They Be Found

This is very important in business modeling. Your market targets or prospects are not everywhere but are somewhere. 

You have to know how they can be found and where they can be found. Their interest and what they spend time with.

 An entrepreneur has to create the demand side and the supply side of the business. There is no demand side and supply side when you start developing the product.

 You create the demand side by taking the solution you created to those that need them.

  •  Can They Pay For The Solution

 This is what will ultimately determine if your product will succeed in the market or not. According to the third law of value until people exchange money for your product, it does not have value.

 You have to determine the people that have the product and the problem can pay for it. If they can’t pay, then that will market the market for your business ineffective.

 When you consider these questions very well and provide answers to them, you will be cleared about who your market target should be in your business model. 

These insights can save you from wasting your funds on businesses that are not feasible even in the model stage.

Real Madrid Are Spanish Champions

At the end of 90 minutes on the eve of Thursday, it was Real Madrid that the trophy went home with. And for Barcelona, it was just another sad evening since the resumption of the league in early June.

A 2-1 Barcelona loss to Osasuna in Camp Nou sealed it for the Blancos who secured their side of the bargain by ensuring a 2-1 win over Villareal.

The Spanish La Liga took a drastic turn at the resumption of the league in June. The coronavirus pandemic forced a pause in sports activities in March, when the league was still under Barcelona’s leadership. But Barcelona gave up their lead and eventually the hope of winning the 2019/20 league season through consistent draws and a loss. Real Madrid who had been following the league leaders, waiting for a slip up cashed in and held on to the top of the table.

It is the 34th league title of the Madrid side, and the second under the tutelage of the club’s legend, Zinedine Zidane, who attributed the win to his players’ resilience.

“La Liga is always the most difficult title. After three months at home, coming back hungry and having done this is incredible. I have no words. I’m happy for the players, because they are the ones who fight,” he said.

The league run was shaky in the beginning as Real Madrid struggled to stay on the top of the table. But things turned around for the galacticos after the second leg of el classico, when they beat Barcelona 2-0 to close the table gap.

Consequently, the players showed determination to dethrone Barcelona, by conceding fewer goals and scoring more. Midfielder Toni Kroos said it’s a sign of togetherness.

“The idea when we started the season was to win this league and we have done it. We have received few goals and that is a sign that we are all working together. I am very happy because we deserved this title,” Kroos said.

The outstanding display of commitment by each Madrid player, led by captain Sergio Ramos, paid off eventually, and they have themselves to thank for it.

“Winning La Liga is always a joy, because this trophy rewards regularity,” said Ramos.

“We have made an impressive League final winning ten games in row. I have been able to enjoy with my teammates and I am happy because I have achieved another League with this club,” Marco Asensio said.

The 2019/20 league season was marred by the pandemic, forcing players to play indoor and restricting fans from attending games. Moreover, the absence of goal machine, Cristiano Ronaldo, in Real Madrid was expected to hinder the team’s chances of winning any trophy for now.

But the players defied the odds to maintain a winning mentality, a fact the club president, Florentino Perez acknowledged, even though he has been accused of cheating his way to the top.

Perez has been accused of using his influence to decide matches. It is believed that the VAR technology and referees make decisions to favor Real Madrid in matches, as is seen in the number of controversial penalties that got awarded to them. But Perez said the players worked their way to the wins and deserve accolades.

“Although the fans were not in the stands, we felt them in our hearts. The players have had the mentality to return with the desire to win this title. The strength and energy they had is something that everyone has been able to see. This League will go down in the history of Real Madrid,” he said.

On the other side of Spain, Barcelona, it is quite cold between the players and supporters. The club had sacked their former coach, Ernesto Valverde, mid-season, in a bid to win the league. Unfortunately, the new coach, Quique Setien watched helplessly as the league slipped into the waiting hands of Real Madrid.

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, who is leading La Liga goal scorers with 23 goals and 20 assists, said the club lost the league because the team has been playing badly.

He said: “If we want to win the Champions League, we need to change many things and get more serious. If we continue like this, we will lose against Napoli, and we will not win the Champions League.”

Barcelona is counting on the Champions League to take a trophy home this season. Messi who has been critical of the club’s president and board believes a lot of changes have to be made for that to happen.

However, the Catalonian giants have congratulated Real Madrid for winning the 2019/20 La Liga.
