What is Woolworths?

Known to generations of South Africans as ‘Woolies’, Woolworths is the only retailer of its kind in the country, offering fashion, food, beauty and homeware under its own brand name, as well as some carefully selected, well-known brands including Country Road and Trenery. Woolworths also offers a range of financial services in partnership with Absa Bank.

Since its founding in 1931, Woolworths has earned its unique position in the South African landscape by remaining true to its core values of quality, integrity, style, innovation and sustainability and to its promise of offering high quality and exceptional value, and by constantly working to make ‘the difference’ for its customers every day.

South Africa’s Keedo Is Taking Kids Fashion And Entrepreneurshipl To The Next Level

0

Keedo clothing blends imagination, comfort and style to create functional and fashionable designer clothes for thousands of kids. Boys and girls from babies to young preteens can wear and will love Keedo’s clothing for kids. Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the kids clothing range has been enjoyed by little ones all over the globe since 1993.

Based in Cape Town, Keedo clothes are flaunted by kids on the move through Africa, Europe and America.

We like the story of the entrepreneurial founder:

After the birth of my twins, I had a hard time finding clothing that was fun, comfortably shaped, colourful, and soft against the skin. So I decided to create personalised clothing of a high quality – clothing good enough for my own offspring.

Two years after the birth of Henno and Carmia, I had a near fatal ski accident which made me realise that existence was to be cherished. During my recovery I had time to take stock of my life, dreams, my talents and goals. Shortly after, the wheels were put in motion for the first store in Cape Town which opened in October 1993. I called it Keedo after my own adorable “Keedos”.

A year later, I received the award for the “National Entrepreneur Business Woman of the Year” – the first in on ongoing list of successes for the company. I was joined by my business partner, David Robertson, in 1997 – one of the bigger steps in a series of many. Since then the Keedo brand has kept growing by leaps and bounds every year and is now putting smiles on faces in 16 countries across the globe, and creates employment opportunities for over 200 people in the local community, not to mention the extensive social awareness projects implemented from the head office in Cape Town. This makes me very proud.
