Cardi B is putting an end to her most recent legal drama. According to NBC News, a jury found the "WAP" rapper not liable in a case that claimed she had attacked a former security officer outside of a Beverly Hills office building in 2018.
Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, the 32-year-old, who has rejected the accusations, reaffirmed her innocence shortly after the verdict was delivered in Los Angeles on September 2.
“I'm not even playing around,” As reported by NBC News, she said. “Even if I'm at my death bed, I swear to God, I will say it at my death bed—I did not touch that woman.”
Cardi also cautioned her followers not to target plaintiff Emani Ellis online following her court triumph.
“I hope that this is something that I leave behind [and] that she leaves behind,” Cardi went on. “Don’t go bother her. Don’t be talking about her. Don’t talk about how she looks. Don’t call her no nasty names.”
As per to court documents acquired by NBC News, Ellis claimed in the lawsuit that the Grammy winner (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) yelled racist insults, scratched her face, and spat on her during their altercation.
During her August court appearance, Cardi admitted that she had spoken with Ellis verbally, but she denied having physical contact with him. She testified that she was four months pregnant with her 7-year-old daughter Kulture at the time of the encounter, and she claimed that Ellis seemed to be recording her on her phone.
In regard to the publication, Cardi, who also has two children with her ex-boyfriend Offset, Wave, age three, and Blossom, age eleven months, recalled during cross-examination, "I said, 'B-tch, get the f--k outta my face, why you in my face, why you recording me? Ain't you supposed to be security?’”
Even though the case involved grave accusations against the artist, her testimony—which included a number of questions about her wigs, colorful language, and dramatic facial expressions—inspired numerous popular memes on the internet. However, Cardi pointed out after the verdict that there was a cost to her stylish court appearances.
“I’m telling you guys,” she informed the media, “when I say that my forehead is raw from changing all these wigs. Raw.”
