Don't plan a trip to Cousins Beach just yet. Jenny Han, the author of the upcoming film Summer I Turned Pretty, provided an update on her efforts, stating that she recently completed the script after it was first revealed back in September.
“I just wrote it," at The Wrap's 2025 Power Women Summit, Jenny remarked, "We have not filmed anything yet."
The 45-year-old, who also penned the book trilogy of the same name, stated that even though the plot has advanced significantly, it won't be released when many viewers first speculated.
“I know that everyone was hoping that it was coming out this Christmas," Jenny clarified, "but unfortunately, not happening, not possible."
After all, the maker of To All The Boys I Loved Before reminded viewers that the third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty's post-production ended just one month prior to its Amazon Prime release.

“The show came out in July,” Jenny, who will also be directing the film, clarified. “So, it was really up to the last minute on the show, so that we wouldn’t have had time to film the whole movie.”
Where will Belly (Lola Tung), Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Conrad (Christopher Briney) go in the film? Jenny had already hinted about an impending significant life event.
“There is another big milestone for Belly,” at an appearance on Today September 18, she made a hint. “So, we’ll continue along with that journey.”
However, her spoilers stop there. Lola and Chris acknowledged that they are totally unaware of the project's specifics.
"I’m sure Jenny has a great—she apparently has a first draft," in a joint September interview, Lola informed Deadline. "So hopefully, maybe soon we’ll find out."
Chris added, reflecting that sentiment: "Thank god I’m not in the writer’s room, because I would write in some dumb s--t."
