The Hangzhou-based maker of humanoid and quadruped robots disclosed in its initial public offering (IPO) filing on Thursday that additional U.S. tariffs, regulatory restrictions and tighter export policies could limit future access to one of its most important overseas markets, potentially affecting sales growth and long-term international expansion.

The disclosure comes as Washington intensifies scrutiny of Chinese technology products amid growing concerns over national security, supply chain resilience and the strategic importance of artificial intelligence and advanced robotics. The latest regulatory moves suggest that robotics is becoming the newest front in the broader technology rivalry between the United States and China, extending restrictions that have already reshaped the semiconductor, AI and telecommunications industries.

U.S. Market Faces Growing Uncertainty

The company said its existing humanoid and quadruped robots have already received certification from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), allowing them to be sold in the United States.

However, Unitree cautioned that future products may not qualify under the latest regulatory framework, creating uncertainty around future product launches.

The warning follows a decision by the FCC on Tuesday to add foreign-made advanced robots to its Covered List. The designation restricts manufacturers from obtaining the equipment authorization required to introduce new robotic products into the U.S. market unless they receive exemptions or conditional approval.

While robots that have already secured FCC authorization can continue to be sold, Unitree acknowledged that further tightening of U.S. policy, including the possible withdrawal of existing approvals, could also disrupt sales of products currently on the market.

The company said these regulatory developments represent a material business risk given the importance of the U.S. market to its international operations.

Although Unitree has expanded rapidly across international markets, the United States continues to account for a significant share of its overseas business. According to the IPO filing, overseas revenue represented more than 40% of total sales during each of the three reporting periods disclosed by the company. Within that international business, revenue generated from the United States accounted for 18.39%, 19.54% and 13.30%, respectively, across the reporting periods.

Those figures underscore both the company’s growing global footprint and its exposure to changes in U.S. trade and regulatory policy.

Any additional restrictions on advanced robotics imports could force Unitree to redirect sales toward other international markets or accelerate efforts to strengthen its domestic business, where China continues to invest heavily in robotics, automation and AI-driven manufacturing.

Shanghai IPO to Test Investor Appetite

The regulatory warning comes as Unitree moves ahead with plans for one of China’s most closely watched technology listings this year.

The company intends to issue 40.446 million new A-shares on Shanghai’s STAR Market, representing 10% of its enlarged share capital. Existing shareholders will not sell shares in the offering, meaning all proceeds will be directed toward the company.

The IPO timetable calls for preliminary institutional price inquiries on Aug. 5, pricing on Aug. 6, final offering terms on Aug. 7 and investor subscriptions beginning on Aug. 10.

Unitree had been targeting a valuation of as much as 50 billion yuan (about $7 billion), according to a Reuters report citing people familiar with the matter.

The company’s March prospectus sought to raise approximately 4.202 billion yuan ($620 million), implying a valuation of roughly 42 billion yuan based on the planned sale of 10% of the business. The final valuation will depend on investor demand and the eventual offer price.

Unitree enters the public market after posting rapid revenue growth, reflecting rising demand for advanced robotics across industrial, research, commercial and AI development applications. The company reported revenue of nearly 1.7 billion yuan in 2025, more than quadrupling from 393 million yuan a year earlier.

The strong financial performance mirrors broader growth in the global robotics sector, where advances in generative AI, computer vision, motion control and large language models are accelerating investment in autonomous machines capable of performing increasingly complex physical tasks.

Following the IPO, founder and Chairman Wang Xingxing and an entity under his control are expected to own 31.29% of Unitree’s equity.

Through the company’s dual-class share structure, however, Wang will retain control of 65.31% of the voting rights, giving him effective control over major corporate decisions after the company becomes publicly traded.

The governance structure mirrors that adopted by many technology companies seeking public listings, allowing founders to maintain strategic control while raising capital to fund expansion.

Crypto analyst and fund founder Michaël Van de Poppe on X, expressed confidence in Bitcoin’s near-term upside. He noted that the cryptocurrency remains above both its 21-day and 50-day moving averages and, on that basis, expects a rally toward $73,000 with the potential to reach $83,000.

Also, ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood has argued that investors should consider moving out of gold and into Bitcoin, citing technical signals that gold looks vulnerable after a strong run.

He warns this seasonal trend will likely persist, framing it as bearish for BTC price action. The small sample size of midterm years since Bitcoin’s existence limits predictive power, though the pattern aligns with known weak summer performance followed by stronger fall months like October.

Historical monthly data shows mixed results for that period, with average returns only modestly positive and median outcomes often negative.

Looking ahead, Bitcoin enters August at a pivotal point. While July’s recovery has improved market sentiment, the month has historically been one of the more challenging periods for the cryptocurrency, particularly during U.S. midterm election years. 

On the bullish side, continued accumulation by institutional investors, sustained inflows into spot Bitcoin investment products, and expectations of a more accommodative monetary policy could provide support for prices. If Bitcoin successfully holds above key technical support levels and buying momentum strengthens, analysts believe a move toward the $73,000 level and potentially higher could remain achievable.

A resurgence in inflation, stronger-than-expected economic data that delays interest-rate cuts, regulatory developments, or a deterioration in global risk sentiment could trigger renewed selling pressure. Failure to maintain support around the mid-$60,000 range may see Bitcoin retest lower levels before any sustained recovery.

Amazon’s AWS Posts Fastest Growth in Nearly Five Years As AI Demand Accelerates Cloud Expansion

Amazon delivered a stronger-than-expected performance from its cloud computing business in the second quarter, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) recording its fastest revenue growth since 2021 as surging demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure continues to reshape the global cloud market.

AWS generated $42.23 billion in revenue during the quarter ended June, comfortably ahead of analysts’ expectations of $40.54 billion, according to StreetAccount.

Revenue rose nearly 37% year over year, a sharp acceleration from the 28% growth reported in the first quarter and the strongest expansion for AWS in almost five years.

AI Becomes A Major Growth Engine

Amazon said both AWS’ artificial intelligence business and its custom AI chips have each surpassed $25 billion in annualized revenue, more than doubling from a year earlier. The milestone illustrates how AI has evolved from an emerging opportunity into one of AWS’ largest growth drivers, as businesses increasingly deploy generative AI models and migrate AI workloads to the cloud.

The company continues to invest aggressively in proprietary silicon, including its Graviton processors and AI accelerators, to reduce reliance on third-party chips while improving performance and lowering operating costs for customers. Those investments are helping Amazon compete more effectively against rivals offering AI infrastructure built around chips from Nvidia and other suppliers.

The latest results come amid an increasingly competitive race among the world’s three largest cloud providers. AWS remains the industry’s largest cloud platform by revenue, with an annualized revenue run rate of approximately $148.4 billion.

That keeps it comfortably ahead of Microsoft, which reported on Wednesday that Azure and its broader cloud business generated more than $100 billion in revenue over the past year after cloud growth accelerated to 43%.

Meanwhile, Alphabet said last week that Google Cloud revenue surged 82% year over year to nearly $25 billion, lifting its annualized revenue to about $78 billion.

Although AWS remains the market leader, the faster growth rates reported by Microsoft and Google suggest competitors continue to gain traction as enterprises diversify cloud providers and expand AI deployments.

Following Alphabet’s earnings, Evercore analysts noted that Google’s rapid sequential revenue growth could eventually raise investor questions about cloud market share, although they maintained a positive rating on Amazon’s stock.

AWS Drives Amazon’s Profitability

Beyond its scale, AWS continues to be Amazon’s primary profit engine. The cloud division generated $16.62 billion in operating income during the quarter, significantly above analysts’ expectations of $13.62 billion.

AWS posted an operating margin of 36.8%, slightly ahead of Google Cloud’s 35.6% margin. The business accounted for nearly 61% of Amazon’s total operating profit, highlighting the extent to which the company’s earnings depend on cloud computing rather than its retail operations.

That profitability gives Amazon greater financial flexibility to fund massive investments in AI infrastructure while continuing to expand its e-commerce and logistics businesses.

Amazon significantly increased spending on infrastructure during the quarter as it races to meet growing demand for AI computing capacity. Capital expenditures rose 68% year over year to $54.21 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $49.35 billion.

The spending reflects Amazon’s ongoing construction of data centers equipped with advanced AI chips, networking equipment, and power infrastructure needed to support complex AI models.
