Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony Finalize Divorce 9 Years After Separation.
La La Anthony and Carmelo Anthony will no longer have balls in the air. The Power actress filed for divorce in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences with the retired NBA all-star. The couple, who had been married for more than ten years, finalized their divorce five years later.
According to court documents obtained by news outlets, the Anthonys, who first separated in 2017 before briefly getting back together in 2018, were given a certificate of dissolution on November 4 after both of them signed affidavits accepting the stipulations.
Additionally, a "qualified medical child support order" is still listed as pending on the documents, even though child support was no longer a problem because their 19-year-old son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony, turned 18 before the divorce was finalized. A child's enrollment in a parent's health care plan is usually required by this order.

The romance, which started in 2003 when Carmelo asked common friend DJ Clue to connect him to the MTV star, came to an end with the divorce settlement. (During his first breakup with La La in 2017, the former New York Knick and his ex-girlfriend Mia Angel Burks welcomed a daughter, Genesis Harlo Anthony.)
Even though the Brooklyn neighborhood heroes have permanently ended their marriage, La La previously discussed how she thinks public scrutiny had a role in their split, describing the weight of the spotlight as "really hard."
"When we lived here [in New York] under all of that, that's when things became complicated," in 2022, she posted on Call Her Daddy. "Now that I look back, that was kind of the start of the demise of the marriage."
Even so, both parents are still committed to co-parenting in this new phase of their relationship—Carmelo is seeing model Racquel Smith, while La La is romantically involved with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and businessman Bear Da Prince.
"At the end of the day, the center of everything is Kiyan," La La told news outlets in 2023. "We want to show Kiyan that his parents love each other and we're a family. We want to be good representations of that to Kiyan."
